How to solve technical problems

If you are returned to the homepage during log on

To operate properly, the Shareview website needs to be able to write a 'cookie' to your PC and be able to read it. A cookie is a small file of information that lets Shareview interact with your PC and allow you to use the website easily. The cookie used by Shareview is temporary and is erased when you close your browser.

There are three possible solutions to the problem you are experiencing.

Solution 1 - Checking that your Internet browser supports cookies.

How you do this depends on the software you use.

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5

  • select Tools on the menu bar at the top of the screen,
  • select Internet Options,
  • select Security,
  • click on the 'Custom Level' button,
  • check the 'Enable' box under the title 'Allow per-session cookies (not stored).

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6

  • select Tools (on the menu bar at the top of the screen),
  • select Internet Options,
  • select Privacy,
  • click on the 'Edit' button under 'Web Sites',
  • enter the website address www.shareview.co.uk
  • click the 'Always Allow' button

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7

  • select Tools (on the menu bar at the top of the screen),
  • select Internet Options,
  • select Content,
  • select Content Advisor,
  • select Content Enable, click 'Enable',
  • select Approved Sites,
  • in 'Allow this website' type in www.shareview.co.uk
  • select Always,
  • select Ok,
  • the system will then ask for a password - complete accordingly

Mozilla Firefox 2.0

  • select Tools,
  • select Options,
  • select Privacy,
  • select Exceptions,
  • type in www.shareview.co.uk
  • select Allow,
  • select Close,
  • select Ok

Solution 2 - checking additional security software on your PC

If you have additional security software on your pc it may be overriding the cookie rules that you have set up on your browser. You'll need to check the configuration of these programs to allow Shareview to write/read the cookie. You can do this by visiting your software manufacturer's website. Examples include:

Please note that these sites are not operated by Equiniti and not regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Equiniti is not responsible for the content of these sites.

Solution 3 - changing content advisor function

If you use the content advisor function of your web browser it may prevent Shareview from reading the cookie. This means you'll need to set up Shareview (www.shareview.co.uk) as an 'allowed' site within the content advisor.
