How to register the death of a shareholder

Large estates

You may need to get a grant of representation. This is a document that appoints the representatives who will administer the estate. Your solicitor will be able to advise you how to do this, or you can contact the Probate Registry for more details. You can find their number in Yellow Pages and the Phone Book.

We'll then ask you to return the completed forms along with an 'office copy' of the grant. This is a copy of the front page of the document which has been sealed by the Probate Registry.

If you are going to transfer the shares, we'll send you a transfer form for you to complete and return to us, along with the relevant share certificates. We'll then issue a certificate in the new name.
