How to arrange direct dividend payments

You can arrange to have dividends paid direct to your bank account. Depending on the currency you wish to receive your payment in and the country your bank account is held in, please select the option from the "How to" list below for further information.

Existing dividend mandate details can be amended; to have dividends paid to a different bank society account.

Please note:

In most cases, we are unable to set mandated dividend payments to anyone other than the shareholder themselves. There are only a few exceptional circumstances when we will be able to do this; such as when the shareholder is deceased, where there is a Court Protection Order, or when another type of Order is in place.

Fees

For a dividend payment made direct to your bank account by abrdn, no fee is chargeable. If you use the Overseas Payment Service (OPS), provided by Equiniti, fees apply. Please read below for further information.

Change the mandate for a UK bank or building society account (GBP only)

If you already have an account for the abrdn Share Portal, you can login to add/change your mandate online.

As long as your shareholding meets certain criteria, the change will take place straightaway.

If you don't have an abrdn Share Portal Account, you can either create a Share Portal Account or else you can make your request by phone or post. Please note joint shareholders are unable to register mandates over the phone. A mandate form must be completed and signed by all holders.

Please ensure that the following information is included:

Signature(s) of all named shareholder(s)/ legal representative(s);
Full Bank Account Number, Sort Code and Reference Number (if applicable and to a maximum of 18 characters);
Name and address of shareholder(s);
Name of the company in which the shares are held;
Ideally one shareholding per form or a summary of shareholdings (and details of each) in an accompanying letter;
Shareholder Reference for each shareholding (this can be found on your share certificate or on any previous correspondence we have sent you).

Please note:

The provision of bank / building society mandate details will not replace any existing DRIP details currently applied to your shareholding.

You should receive a response to an enquiry regarding direct dividend payments, or receive a requested mandate form, within 5 business days. Bank account details, provided on submitted mandate forms, will be applied to the shareholding details ahead of the next dividend date.

Change the mandate for a corporate holding (GBP only)

For security purposes, all mandate requests relating to corporate holdings need to be sent by post.

Document must be signed in accordance with Section 44 of the Companies Act 2006. That is:
- Signatures of two Directors or
- 1 Director and 1 Secretary or
- 2 Authorised Signatories or
- 1 Authorised Signatory and Company Seal or
- 1 Director and 1 Witness
Capacity of signatories must be stated.
Full Bank Account Number, Sort Code and Reference Number (if applicable and to a maximum of 18 characters);
Name and address of corporate shareholder;
Name of the company(ies) and Shareholder Reference(s) in which the shares are held (this can be found on the share certificate, share statement or on any previous correspondence we have sent you).

The instruction will also need to be bank stamped or alternatively, please provide a bank/building society statement or paying in slip that confirms the bank details quoted.

The provision of bank / building society mandate details will not replace any existing DRIP details currently applied to your shareholding.

We will process your mandate request within 5 business days from receipt of your form.

Change the mandate for an overseas shareholder (other currencies)

For security purposes, requests to set up/amend mandates to overseas accounts need to be made by post and include a completed form that can be found in the link below. Information on our fees is also provided here.

Please note the following:

A small fee is deducted prior to the funds being credited to your overseas account and is detailed on the Overseas Mandate form/ guidance notes.
The overseas payment service should not be used if you want your dividends to be paid in GBP or Euro, or for Canadian residents, in CAD. Please use one of the direct payment options instead.

Change the mandate for an overseas bank account (Euro, GBP or CAD)

If you hold abrdn plc shares you can arrange for direct payment in Euro or GBP to an overseas bank account by completing a Currency Election Instruction. If you are a Canadian resident you can receive your payment in CAD direct to your bank account by completing a CAD instruction.

If you already have a Share Portal Account, you can login to add/change your overseas bank account for your abrdn shares online. Once logged in go to 'My Investments' and select ‘View’ under ‘Indicative value’ to access the Dividend Election page and follow the instructions to provide your overseas bank account details.

Legal representatives' request to amend a dividend bank mandate

If you are registered with us as a legal representative or Power of Attorney, you may send us a written request to amend a dividend bank/building society mandate. It may be easier for you to complete a Change of Mandate form.

Dividend mandates can be cancelled by phone. Please note joint shareholders are unable to cancel their mandates over the phone or by email. Written instruction must be sent directly to us and must be signed by all shareholders registered on the holding.

This needs to include:

If you do not provide a new dividend mandate, then your future dividend payments will be retained. The option to receive your dividend payments by cheque is no longer available.
