It can be a difficult time when someone close to you dies - especially if you've never had to deal with things like shares before.

Bereavement Support

What to do when a Banco Santander Shareholder dies

The following information is provided to help you register the death with us and transfer or sell the shares to release any money (or the shares) to the estate's beneficiaries.

Please follow the below steps:

1

Notify us of the death

Letting us know a shareholder has died means we can update our records held in the Santander Nominee Service and put a hold on any future activity. We can also provide guidance on next steps.

2

Confirm the details of the death

In order for us to accept further instruction(s), you will need to send us formal documentation. More information can be found in this section.

3

Sell, Transfer or Donate the shares

There are a number of options available to you once the death has been formally confirmed with us. Guidance can be found in this section.
